Sources and Corrections Policy
FilterPet.com uses product documentation and other reliable sources to prepare information about pet water fountains, replacement filters, maintenance, cleaning, troubleshooting, and model-specific instructions.
This policy explains which sources we prefer, what details we check, and how readers can report possible errors.
Source priority
For product and model-specific content, we generally use sources in this order:
- Model-specific manuals and PDFs.
- Official manufacturer support pages.
- Official product pages.
- Official retailer listings used to identify products, model references, and ASINs.
- Reliable government, veterinary, public-health, or safety sources.
- Secondary sources when a suitable primary source is not available.
A stronger source may replace an earlier source when it provides clearer or more current information for the exact model.
Model and compatibility checking
We try to verify details that can cause confusion or lead a reader to order the wrong part. These may include:
- product and model names;
- model numbers;
- replacement filter compatibility;
- replacement filter families;
- ASINs;
- cleaning directions;
- filter soak times;
- vinegar ratios or other measurements;
- filter replacement schedules;
- electrical safety warnings;
- material and dishwasher limitations.
Similar products are not assumed to use the same filters, parts, schedule, or instructions.
General versus model-specific guidance
General maintenance advice does not automatically apply to every fountain.
When a page gives instructions for one exact model, the model-specific manual and official manufacturer guidance take priority. A cleaning method, soak time, ratio, or replacement schedule confirmed for one product should not be copied to another model without support.
When a detail cannot be confirmed, we may leave it out or identify it as unverified.
How updates are handled
A published page may be reviewed or updated when:
- a source changes;
- a manufacturer updates a manual;
- a compatibility error is found;
- an official product page or retailer listing changes;
- a reader reports a correction supported by a reliable source;
- a link becomes unavailable.
Updates may include correcting text, replacing a link, clarifying a model difference, or removing information that can no longer be confirmed.
How corrections are reviewed
We compare correction requests with the strongest available source for the exact product or topic. For model-specific questions, we give preference to the current manual or official manufacturer documentation.
Not every request will result in a change. A correction may be declined when the supporting source applies to a different model, conflicts with stronger documentation, or cannot be verified.
Minor spelling, formatting, and link fixes may be made without a separate correction notice.
How to report an error
To report a possible error, please include:
- the URL of the FilterPet.com page;
- a short description of the issue;
- the exact model number, when relevant;
- a manual, official page, or other source supporting the correction;
- a screenshot when it helps show the problem.
Do not send account passwords, payment information, or other sensitive details.
